Our History

San Antonio Disc Club, though the name was not decided on yet, held its first mini at McClain Park on October 20, 2007. There were 17 determined golfers in attendance. Minis are run every Saturday morning, sign-up at 9:00 AM, tee off at 9:30. Mini's are open to Recreational, Amateurs, and Open players. (See Tournaments page for entry fees and possible blackout dates.)

     San Antonio Disc Club was officially founded on January 19, 2008; although work had actually begun months earlier. With the city of San Antonio adding Disc Golf courses to local parks many veteran and newcomers to the sport decided the time had come to provide a unified, organized, club based in the City of San Antonio once again. With over 30 members in attendance at that first meeting both the Club Charter and Club By-laws were unanimously approved and ratified thus establishing the first City of San Antonio based disc golf club in ten years.

Boerne Lake Course Now Open

 Congratulations to the City of Boerne and John Houck for building one of the best nine hole courses around. "Nine hole? (snicker snicker)" you ask. Before you get too cocky this course is built in the Texas Hill Country expect lots of trees (my arch enemies), tunnel shots, and before I forget ...Wind! Lots of wind! Remember this was Houck built as well, so all the natural obstacles are there complete with a few over the water shots. 

I am not a big fan of the mulch tee boxes, but Disc Golf is a game of challenges. The scenery is great, and I love the "frame" job on the number 9 basket; you'll see what I mean when you play it. Holes 3, 6, and 9 offer alternative tees for less advanced players, but still offer a challenge.

Park admission is $5.00 per carload of four Monday through Thursday. Rates for Friday through Sunday escalate to $8.00. Boerne residents are admitted free. (Time to find a friend in Boerne). Season Pass (March - October) for non residents is $75.00 for individuals and $125.00 for family of 5. From March through May however the admission gate is unmanned except for Friday - Sunday. Outside of finding a friend in Boerne, find three friends drive to Boerne and split the gas, beer, and entry 4 ways. It's worth the 1.25 - 2.00.
